Tips for Speeding Up Your Computer
Trying to get your computer run faster? Here are the easy tips to follow.
1. Restart regularly
Restarting your computer can enable updates to take effect and shut down stuck programs.
2. Disable startup programs
Right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager or hit Ctrl- Shift-Escape to launch Task Manager. At the top you’ll see the Startup tab. If there are any programs you don’t need to start automatically, right-click them and hit Disable.
3. Run fewer programs at the same time
Having a lot of programs open can slow down your computer. Multitasking is great, but sometimes we just need to ask ourselves whether we really need to open so many things.
4. Delete unnecessary files
Delete files that you no longer need regularly and empty the recycle bin. Note emptying the recycle bin will delete files permanently.
5. Run disk cleanup
Open Control Panel>System and Security>Administrative Tools>Disk Cleanup (or Free up disk space) from the list, the computer will run a cleanup and give you cleanup options. Select files you no longer need and hit OK. Note this will delete files permanently.
6. Uninstall unwanted programs
Open Control Panels>Programs and Features page, go through all software installed, and right-click on programs that you no longer need, hit Uninstall.
